What to consider when buying a built-in steam oven or steamer
The combination of steam and hot air can be used to cook almost anything: from vegetables, fish, beef, pork and poultry to rice, pastries, cakes and dumplings. However, the ideal amount of steam added differs from dish to dish. There are different types of Siemens steam combination ovens to help you cook your favourite foods to perfection:
- fullSteam allows for gentle and healthy cooking with full preservation of flavours, nutrients and vitamins as no oil and fat is needed. Ingredients retain their natural appearance as the water evaporates off the surface, the food gets crispy on the outside while staying juicy on the inside. In comparison to steamers, fullSteam ovens come with hot air heating modes in addition. Perfect for vegetables, fish, bread, potatoes, cake, roasts, and more.
- addedSteam adds something special to every dish with up to 100°C of automatically or manually controlled steam, and is your entry into creating roasts, bread and other dishes that turn out just right. During the roasting and baking process, additional moisture allows for professional cooking and baking and moist, succulent results. Food can still get crispy on the outside without drying the inside. Perfect for roasts, poultry, bread, and more.
Combination steam ovens are ideal for anyone who enjoys healthy steam-cooked meals but doesn't have the space for two separate appliances. The combination of steam and standard heating modes like hot air also gives you more cooking options than you get with a conventional oven and a separate steamer. This includes baking breads and roasting meats that are juicy inside and crispy out the outside.
It is important to choose a built-in oven that has sufficient cooking space but also fits the space available in your kitchen. For seamless built-in kitchen designs, there are more possibilities than the standard 60 x 60cm niche for the oven.
Width and height dimensions and interior volume of Siemens ovens:
- Standard oven size: 60cm x 60cm (71 litres)
- Compact ovens: 60cm x 45cm (47 litres)
- Steamers: 60cm x 45cm (38 litres)
For built-in kitchen designs, another option is to combine multiple 60cm wide appliances next, horizontally or vertically. For example, placing a built-in steamer and built-in microwave next to the oven gives you more cooking options and capacity. 45cm high steamers can be optimally combined with 15cm high warming drawers.
