How to load the washing machine?
When filling up your washing machine drum, it is important to strike the right balance between filling up the drum with enough clothes for economical washing, and leaving enough of a gap at the top of the drum for an effective washing performance.
For the best washing results, there has to be enough water for the detergent to dissolve in and enough space for your clothes to move around. If you overload the drum, there will be less water available for the detergent to dissolve in as the clothes will soak this up.
It’s therefore recommended that you leave a hands width gap at the top of the washing machine drum when loading. This roughly equates to filling 3/4 of the drum.
Remember not to under load the washing machine drum either, as this is uneconomical and it may result in a loud banging noise on the spin cycle due to an unbalanced load.
Follow these tips how to place the laundry into the drum
- Mix items of laundry of varying sizes. Laundry items of different sizes distribute themselves better during the spin cycle. Individual items of laundry may lead to imbalances.
- Observe the specified maximum load. Overfilling has a negative impact on the washing result and promotes creasing.
- Leave a hands width gap at the top of the washing machine drum when loading. This roughly equates to filling 3/4 of the drum.
- Place presorted items of laundry unfolded in the washing drum.
- Make sure that no items of laundry are trapped between the washing machine door and the rubber seal, and close the door.
